We are looking for a Solution Architect to join our team.


Role Summary

This fixed-term Solution Architect role at Kaplan Professional focuses on designing, implementing, and governing application, data, and technical solutions, with a strong emphasis on generative AI and content management. The role involves working within AWS and Azure cloud environments, participating in the Technical Design Authority (TDA), and collaborating with various teams to ensure solutions align with Kaplan's architecture and technology strategy. Key responsibilities include architecture development and governance, collaboration and implementation, and strategy and continuous improvement.




As a Solution Architect you will:


  • Develop solution architectures incorporating business, data, application, and technology domains, ensuring they are fit for purpose and align with Kaplan’s technology and architecture standards.

  • Work closely with development teams throughout the software development lifecycle to ensure adherence to architectural principles and specifications.

  • Contribute to technology and application strategies and roadmaps, actively participating in enterprise and global architecture initiatives.

What you’ll bring to the role


The ideal candidate will have a broad technical background, strong communication skills, and experience with agile frameworks, secure software development, DevOps, cloud architectures, and AI technologies.


  • Agile software development frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban

  • Secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC)

  • DevOps practices, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code to support modern delivery approaches

  • Experience as an active member of Technical Design Authority (TDA) or Architecture Review Boards (ARB)

  • Expertise in designing and maintaining AWS and Azure cloud architectures, ensuring security, availability, scalability, and cost-efficiency

  • Familiarity with low-code/no-code platforms such as Google AppSheet or Power Platform (added to and moved up)

  • Strong understanding of security threats (e.g. OWASP Top 10) and the common strategies and technologies used to protect systems and data

  • Development tooling:

○     Development work management (Azure DevOps Boards)

○    Source control management (Azure DevOps, TFS, Git)

○    Deployment (Azure DevOps Pipelines, Octopus Deploy)

○    Code quality and vulnerability management (SonarQube, Snyk, Qualys)

○    Containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes)

○    Infrastructure as code (Terraform)

  • Modern development languages, frameworks and platforms including but not limited to:

○     C# / .NET Framework / .NET Core

○     JavaScript & JavaScript frameworks

○     Structured Query Language (SQL)

○     Learning management technologies and standards - SCORM, LTI, xAPI

  • Proven track record designing and implementing a wide range of solutions including the following:

○   Content workflow & management systems, incorporating digital asset and rights management

○    Ecommerce and portal websites

○    ERP (MS Dynamics 365 Business Central) and CRM (Salesforce)

○     Learning management systems (Brightspace, Moodle)

○     Identity management & authentication services
